In this post, I will share a very valuable career exercise you can easily apply to explore your dream job. This exercise is from the best-selling job search book titled “What Color is Your Parachute?”. It is called “The Flower Exercise”.

The flower exercise is a self-assessment exercise aimed at helping you discover yourself, your strengths, skills, and preferences. As the key to finding your ideal job is to explore who you are, this exercise is very valuable in finding your career priorities and choices. In a nutshell, the flower exercise helps you figure out what type of work is most appropriate for you. It includes a set of questions to nail down what you are looking for. These questions take the form of petals on a flower. Each petal represents an aspect of your dream job that you should consider carefully.
